Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Mexico shoot up in a week 45%

The confirmed cases in Mexico amount to 40,186, according to data from the Ministry of Health. Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Mexico soared 45 percent in the past week, according to the Health Secretariat. The accumulated cases are 40,186 with the cut to this Wednesday. Last week, on May 6, the data was 27,634. As for the number of deaths, the agency reported Wednesday that there are 4,220, 56 percent more than the data reported last week.

Meanwhile, the accumulated suspected cases of the COVID-19 disease increased to 24,856. Regarding confirmed cases, Mexico City is the entity that registers the largest number, with 10,946. It is followed by the State of Mexico, with 6,813, and Baja California, with 2 thousand 764. In turn, Mexico City, Baja California and the State of Mexico are, in that order, the states with the highest number of deaths reported by the pathogen.

All the states of the country have, so far, availability in both general hospitalization and ventilator beds. Confirmed cases of the virus totaled 4,170,442, according to the World Health Organization.
